Simple Bouquet with Just a Few Flowers

Flowers brighten a home in summer (unless you have allergies).

While it is lovely to have a huge flower arrangement, we all know how costly that can be.

I have a lovely bouquet idea for all of you that can be created with just a few blossoms out of your own garden or from a garden of a generous friend.

All that is needed is a small decorative clear glass bowl or vase. Tiny is really the operative word here. Add to that, at the most, three flowers and maybe a spray of miniature flowers for interest.

Fill the container with water up to the widest part.

Add to that, basically just the flower heads with leaves removed. Leave only a tiny stem so the flower can still take up water.

The flower can be just one Peony that just won’t stand up in the garden or a blossom or two that you cull to let a plant keep on blooming. Instead of tossing it...bring them in and arrange a pretty little arrangement for your dining room table, on your coffee table...anywhere in the house or at the office at work where you can enjoy them! No extra watering required.

You can even do this with an arrangement you may have received once the flowers are fading and the arrangement no longer looks good! You know - at the point most of the flowers are past their prime but a few are still quite nice.

Each flower needs to be trimmed down with only a small stem so each one sits up on the water instead of leaning to the side. Less is more with a small vase. If you have additional flowers, make up another little arrangement!

Those flowers last a fairly long time and brighten up a dull day.

In my example, I have picked a small spray of Forget-Me-Not and two different miniature Roses that were beginning to show some age. I wanted to give the Rose bushes a little more energy and trimmed these Roses for my own enjoyment.

While I have used a clear vase with the flowers showing from inside...any decorative and waterproof container that has a rim and a wide display area will also work..

• A tall glass with some Carnations layered one on top of another filled with water.
• A pretty dessert dish with a single Peony flower in it.
• An egg cup with a head of Sweet William flowers ( great fragrance)
• A big old glass ashtray (with a big rim) floating a few green leaves and some Daisy flower heads!
• A Dahlia flower in a wine glass.
• Some flowers floating in a Mason Jar (if you close the lid even those with allergies might be okay)

There you have it. A flower bouquet that did not cost anything extra! I bet it can be enjoyed just as much as a huge bouquet if you look at it from close- up!
