Enjoying Nature; the Health Benefits of Fresh Air and Quiet Surroundings
74Benefits of nature's environment
Being out in nature is beneficial...not only does it lower blood pressure, but it is relaxing as well as being a wonderful relaxing way to pass time. One of my personal lifelong pleasures has always been having a walk or taking a drive in the countryside.
Nature Rejuvenates!
I find the quickest way to lower stress levels is to be outside in the fresh air away from the hustle and bustle of city noises. Out in nature, I can feel my muscles relax and the day to day worries just drop away as I observe the beauty of nature.
It is like a meditation.
Nature can be found in a park, your back yard or a short drive out of the city. If you live in the country all the better!
Hospitals realize the benefits of nature and find that patients that have pictures of nature in their environment heal faster. I have included some pictures of places I find relaxing. Hope you enjoy them.

A Retreat of Your Own
Everyone should have a retreat they can go to to rejuvenate...
However, many of us (including me) cannot afford fancy spas. However there is nothing to say we can't bring a little nature into our lives no matter where we are!
My relaxation is to be away from the city where the traffic noise is replaced by the rustle of leaves and the songs of the birds and frogs!
Each time, I drive down the lane to my house and shut off the engine, I listen. The only noise is the wind rustling the leaves on the poplar trees. Do you realize how relaxing that is when that is the only noise you can hear? Time and time again, visitors comment on how deeply they sleep in the country away from the city noise. Could it be that the deep quiet and fresh air actually give a better quality of sleep? Even my cat feels drowsy there.
Now, that I have retired I can just put my feet up and relax for a few days.
The Beauty of Nature
Whenever, I am in the country, I remember this: the wind in the Poplars, the soft rush of rain falling to the ground, the elegant and delicate gait of a Blue Heron as it hunts for prey in the beaver pond as I wash dishes and look out of my kitchen window. I remember the vibrant colours of green and purple in my naturalized garden.
These are just a few of the relaxing pleasures I enjoy. Even work is more pleasant in the sun and fresh air. Working outside, for me, is a great relaxation!
The results of my work are immediate. The sights and sounds are wonderful.
I connect with what is important in life while out in nature because I am reminded that life goes on in nature as it has for centuries...
Nature Reminds Us What is Important...
Man is at odds with the earth, exploiting and plundering oblivious to natural laws; thinking he will conquer nature for his own benefit. Such is the pride of man. Arrogant, selfish and cruel. Mother earth has swallowed up civilizations gone by, buried under meters of dirt. Past glories now the stuff of museums for the curious. She will prevail.
Hundreds of years from now, our present man's feeble attempts at mastery and domination will be forgotten buried along with their garbage.
Maybe a future mankind will still manage to be around hopefully having learned to live in harmony with their women, their neighborhood, their world and ultimately with nature.
In the meantime, go out in nature and feel the harmony out there! You will be glad you did!

I can almost feel the relaxation you describe! This places looks great, as nature always are! Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely nothing can compare to nature. I think this is the reason why people here in New York City just melt down - there is nothing to relieve the stress of concrete, cars, crowds and pollution. In fact it shortens our lives.
Lovely hub. Just looking at the pictures helps a lot. Rated up.
